Notary fees query, can anyone help?
Hi, Can anyone please help with what Notary fees should be? I've looked online and it seems to be a fixed fee and then a percentage for over certain amounts i.e 'from 100 000 – 500 000 BGN. 730,50 + 0,2 % for the amount over 100 000' . Then I guess you have to add VAT at 20%. I have been advised that the total amount is then doubled as the Notary charges once for drawing up the deeds and then again for reading and signing them. This seems odd as surely a fee structure is a fee structure, do you really have to multiply it by 2? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

The notary has some freedom in how much to charge for drafting the title deed. The other fees are fixed. Title deeds are fairly standard. You could get a local lawyer to draft it for a minimal fee. Unfortunately, your choices as a foreigner who does not speak the lingo are fairly limited. Everyone sees you as a welcome victim to overcharge. Two times the regular fee is certainly massive. Try using a different notary. There are 4 of them now in Razlog.
