Waterpark?
I have just read a thread that said they are building a waterpark in bansko. It is meant to be beside the Tamplier. Is there any truth to this?

Yes. Almatour (one of the biggest tour operators in Bulgaria and who are now managing the Tamplier complex) are in the process of building an Aquapark which should be completed for the next summer season. It is situated on the land west of Tamplier.

If this is a fact it can only be excellent news. I have 3 kids and all they really want to do when they are on holiday is swim , if we have this facility in Bansko it will attract more families for sure.
Do you know when work is going to start. The ground will soon be getting hard and with the construction ban during the ski season its hard to see how it will be ready for next summer :?

If I remember rightly the last time I was over which was early last August there was already a large hole in the ground where tervido28uk is talking about. I noticed as it was unusual to see a new hole in the ground in Bansko - :lol:
Am sure someone living in Bansko can update this, but as you say, if true this can only be good for Bansko.

correct me if I am wrong but the west of tamplier is towards the gondola and there is a house and the kandahar complex there. Do we not mean to the east of tamplier, althought I seem to remember there is a complex there too :?

There was a old low level house and land surrounded by a wall to the west of Tamplier which is directly in front of Kandahar and Harry's bar. You can zoom in on this link -

Almatour acquired the 2 relatively new villas and land that lay to the west of Tamplier and had already demolished them way before I last visited back in June. They have already built a conference center and as I was leaving last summer had demolished the surrounding wall ready to start on the aquapark and spa and also a new hotel wing (like we need more rooms !). It will be up and running by next summer. When I can access Picturetrail I will upload some pics.

The Kandahar apartments can just about be seen on the left and the next building along is The Emerald.
This is the road leading up to Tamplier. The first building on the left is the new conference center, which I believe is now finished, then Tamplier and finally in the bacground The Kandahar apts. The road leading off to the right half way up will eventually be the enterance to the aquapark.
Feck. I wish the developer for Grand Bansko was as quick. The building onn the other side of the park from the conference centre looks new to me
